The Toybox for Day 25

I must be honest, I originally picked The Toybox because I thought it would involve something about the Toy Box Killer. I am a fan of true crime, and I find serial killer cases to be some of the most interesting. The Toy Box Killer was one of the first serial killers I learned about when I was in high school or college, and I never went back.

So you can imagine that I was a little disappointed when I realized this had absolutely nothing to do with David Parker Ray. Unfortunately, that is not where my disappointment ended.

The Toybox is about an RV that is possessed by the spirit of a traveling serial killer. The RV somehow escaped destruction and has been killing all those who enter it ever since the killer was killed by police. The most annoying and apathetic family in existence buy the RV for a family vacation and pick up two stranded travelers along the way. The RV quickly begins to kill them one by one.

I’m actually a fan of the idea of a haunted RV, just not this one. The acting was horrible and the people you wanted to die first were often the last ones to go. I also think Mischa Barton deserved better than this movie. She was by far the best actor present, and her performance wasn’t exactly stellar.

The special effects and make-up were good and there were a few stand-out moments, but it wasn’t enough to encourage me to recommend this movie.

The Toybox makes me never want to get a used RV though.

Things I Learned:

  1. Get the Carfax.
  2. Always have a pack of water while traveling on the road.
  3. Never stick your hand in any kind of opening anywhere on a motor vehicle. Are you a mechanic? Yes – then proceed. No – then stop.
  4. I’m not sure The O.C. was as good as I remember it being.
